It is the first book in the New Testament. Matthew shows Jesus as a messiah of Jewish people. Matthew was writing for Jews. Matthew quotes from Old Testament a lot and sends the message to have faith in the Old Testament. Luke deals with the description very delicately. The first chapter says about the announcement of the forthcoming birth of Jesus. He says that Joseph and Mary were a betrothed couple who did not live together. And in both cases the birth is of divine will. This sets up a series of miraculous births.
The gospel of Luke divides history into three periods: Israel, Jesus, and the church. This division of history occurs in no other gospel and so powerful is the Lucan mythological creation that it appears to us as natural. The Septuagint style greatly facilitates this model. This section contains a number of canticles, perhaps better referred to as psalms, because this is what they are emulating. Answer: There is no difference between the two. The wording is different sure, it's written by two different authors so that is to be expected. However, the story is still the same. Jesus is baptized by John in the Jordan. It's common knowledge where John was preaching and baptizing others, so it's not necessary for Luke to include that information. The stories are still the same, even if Luke doesn't specifically state the location of the baptism or who performed it.
